Global
Warming
Continued increase in the average temperature of water and air can cause a rise in sea level, intense weather and changes in precipitation and agriculture.
When population exceeds the capacity of the habitat to support it, stresses increase on such resources as food and energy.
Endangered Species
Plant and animal populations around the globe are at risk of extinction.  Since living things are interdependent, losing one can endanger others in the system.
Shortages
The combination of climate change and population increase challenges our finite supplies of water, food, land, energy, wealth and clean air, putting people and animals at risk of starvation, floods and temperature extremes.
Air, water and soil are contaminated by chemicals and particulates.  Unnatural levels of noise, heat and light  endanger the stability of the system, threatening health as well as ecosystems.
We may be able to reduce at least some of these risks if we're aware, if we care, and if we are creative and do what we can as individuals and families to reduce waste, our dependence on fossil fuels, and the damage we do to the beauty, vitality and sustainability of Planet Earth.
